San Diego Man Killed While Walking Dog on Brookburn Drive Identified

San Diego, CA. – 70-year-old Mark Maisel from San Diego was hit and killed by a car as he walked his dog Sunday evening in the Carmel Valley community of San Diego, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office reported.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Brookburn Drive.

According to investigators, Maisel, his wife, and his dog were walking along the street when his wife crossed Brookburn Drive ahead of him and waited for him to follow.

Maisel allowed two vehicles to pass and proceeded to cross the street. At that time, he got hit by a passing car.

Responding emergency personnel found the man unresponsive and not breathing. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The dog was also hurt in the accident. Bystanders took the pet to a veterinarian.

The driver involved stopped and remained at the scene.
