Ventura County, CA.- A bicycle rider was hit and killed by a vehicle in Ventura County on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place on the Pacific Coast Highway north of Sycamore Canyon Road at about 11:15 a m. February 22.

A bicyclist leading a group of eight bicyclists traveling on the shoulder of the road turned into the roadway and was hit by a northbound vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on the victim.

The rider, however, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No further details were released.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
