Empire, California (August 6, 2021) – Brenda Blakes, 20, of Elk Grove, has been identified as one of two people who were killed in a motorcycle collision on Tuesday night in Empire, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s office.

The deadly collision occurred just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at the intersection of South Santa Fe and South Avenues.

As per the report, Blakes was a passenger on a motorcycle that collided with a small gray car on the southbound side of Santa Fe Avenue.

Blakes sustained major injuries and was rushed to Modesto hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The motorcycle driver, Bruce Rummerfield, 53, of Stockton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The intersection of South Santa Fe and South Avenues was temporarily blocked during the investigation.

No other details regarding the accident were immediately available.

The accident remains under investigation.
