Spencer Roark ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in State Route 4 Crash
Calaveras County, California (March 9, 2022) – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died Sunday evening following a head-on collision while fleeing a traffic stop in Calaveras County as Spencer Roark, 27, of Escalon.
The incident began at about 6:25 p.m. on March 6, when a California Highway Patrol officer saw Roark on a 2021 Harley-Davidson blow through a red light. The officer tried to stop Roark, but he fled westbound on State Route 4 at high speed.
Roark crossed over the double yellow line on a curve in the road and entered into the opposite lane, where he collided head-on with an eastbound 2014 Audi that was traveling at the speed limit.

Roark was thrown off the bike upon the impact and landed on the north shoulder of State Route 4.
Despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel, Roark died at the site of the accident.
A passenger in the Audi sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. Capurro sustained minor injuries but declined hospitalization.
The crash caused a closure of Highway 4 between Main Street and Angels Road in Vallecito.
It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the deadly accident is underway.
