Oracle, AZ – One person is dead after a collision that took place in Oracle early Thursday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The wreck took place at about 5:15 a.m. on May 21, on State Route 77 near Biosphere Road.
Authorities reported that two vehicles were involved in the collision near the entrance to the Biosphere 2 science campus. It’s unclear what caused the two to crash.
According to DPS, a person in one of the vehicles was declared deceased at the scene. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
A second person in the other vehicle was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash completely blocked the highway for an unspecified duration as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
