Madera County, CA – A woman was killed in a car accident near Hensley Lake in Madera County on Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on Road 400 at River Road on October 16.

According to investigators, a 61-year-old woman from Madera was driving a gray 2023 Ford Explorer northbound on Road 400 when she drifted into the southbound lanes near River Road.

The woman collided head-on with an oncoming white 1994 Ford F-350 driven by a 75-year-old man.

Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles using the jaws of life.

The female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Her passenger, a 40-year-old, and the driver of the 1994 Ford, were both transported to Community Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
