Coroner’s Office Identifies Woman Killed in Fresno Pedestrian Collision

Fresno, CA. – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the woman who was fatally hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening near a Fresno intersection as 41-year-old Rachel Vanderpool.

The Fresno resident was struck around 6:10 p.m. near Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Third Street.

Authorities said Vanderpool stepped off the center median into the eastbound lanes of traffic and got hit by a car approaching the area.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.
