Preliminary reports indicate that a 37-year-old Willcox woman was driving when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and slammed into the driver’s side rear of a stopped school bus.
Willcox, AZ – Injuries were reported in an incident where a vehicle crashed into a school bus in the Willcox area on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened on North Fort Grant Road and North Ingram Road at about 4 p.m. on September 9.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 37-year-old Willcox woman was driving when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and slammed into the driver’s side rear of a stopped school bus.
There were several children aboard the bus and most of them were not injured. Some of the children complained of minor pain and were attended to by medical personnel.
The driver who crashed into the bus was taken to Northern Cochise Community Hospital and was later transferred to a hospital in Tucson for further treatment.
According to authorities, the woman was suspected to have been impaired and was cited for DUI. She also received a citation for reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
The accident is under investigation by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
