Whitman County, WA – A 25-year-old woman from Pullman was killed in a collision between two vehicles in Whitman County on Friday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened just before 1:34 p.m. on January 30, in the area of US 195 and Albion Road.
The WSP reported that a 2009 Toyota Corolla was westbound on Albion Road when it attempted to cross US 195 onto Hamilton Hill Road and was broadsided by a semi-truck.
The big rig was traveling south on the highway within the speed limit and collided with the Toyota, whose driver failed to yield to the right of way.
The WSP and Whitman County Rural Fire District responded to the scene to assist the involved parties.
A female passenger in the Toyota, identified as Angelina I. D’Amato, 22, of Pullman, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, Vincent X. Long, 20, of Mapple Valley, was flown to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane in critical condition.
The driver of the semi-truck, Steven F. Bauer, 66, of Lewiston, Idaho, was uninjured in the accident.
Authorities said all occupants were wearing their seatbelts and impairment was not believed to have played a role in the accident.
The crash remained under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
