Simi Valley, CA. – A motorcyclist is dead following a crash that happened early Thursday morning in Simi Valley.

According to a statement by the Simi Valley Police Department, the accident happened eastbound on Los Angeles Avenue near Angus Avenue at around 2 a.m.

Police say the 61-year-old man was riding a motorcycle eastbound on the roadway when he lost control and crashed.

Ventura County Fire responded to the scene and found the man unresponsive in a field on the south side of Los Angeles Avenue.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.

Although an investigation into the accident is ongoing, police say speed and alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
