Two Pedestrians Injured in San Francisco Accident on Jackson Street

San Francisco, CA – Two pedestrians were injured when a vehicle slammed into a building in the Chinatown area of San Francisco on Friday morning.

According to the San Francisco Fire Department, the wreck took place in the 600 block of Jackson Street on Friday, March 27.

Preliminary reports indicate that a car crashed into the building, hitting two people. One of the victims hit is believed to have been a construction worker.

The San Francisco Fire Department paramedics immediately responded to the scene and attended to two victims of the crash.

The two patients were then transported to a hospital for further treatment. One of the patients had serious injuries while the other was in critical condition.

Building inspectors were called to the scene to assess the damage to the building.

Limited details on the incident were immediately available. Authorities are currently investigating to establish the cause of the accident.

San Francisco’s traffic safety remains a challenge despite Vision Zero initiatives launched in 2014 to eliminate fatalities by 2024. In 2024, the city recorded 39-43 fatal collisions, resulting in 41-43 deaths—the highest in over a decade—with pedestrians and vulnerable users disproportionately affected (drivers at fault in nearly 50% of pedestrian fatalities). Males comprised 81% of victims. 2025 saw a sharp improvement, with fatalities dropping nearly 50% to around 24, attributed to street redesigns, speed reductions, and enhanced enforcement. Pedestrians, especially older adults (75% of pedestrian deaths), and hit-and-run persist as key concerns. Injury crashes concentrate on the High Injury Network (12% of streets accounting for 68% of severe incidents).
