San Bernardino, CA – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night on a freeway in San Bernardino, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The San Bernardino incident transpired around 10:33 p.m., March 24, on the westbound 10 Freeway near Tippecanoe Avenue.
CHP said a male pedestrian was struck by a white sedan under unclear circumstances.

San Bernardino remains one of the most hazardous cities for pedestrians in California, consistently ranking near the top of the OTS “Group B” (cities with populations over 250,000) for pedestrian victims. According to 2023–2024 OTS rankings, San Bernardino ranked 6th worst out of 60 for total pedestrian injuries and fatalities, with a particularly high risk in the hit-and-run (3rd worst) and nighttime (5th worst) categories. While San Bernardino County saw a 3% decline in overall victims in 2024, pedestrians still represent a disproportionate share of severe outcomes, with fatalities frequently concentrated along high-speed urban arterials and mid-block crossings.
