Los Angeles County remains the most dangerous region for pedestrians in California, consistently reporting the highest volume of traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. According to the 2025 SafeTREC report, the county recorded 273 pedestrian fatalities and 959 serious injuries in 2023 alone — surpassing all other counties by a wide margin. While preliminary 2024 and 2025 data suggest a slight stabilization in fatalities across the state, the county accounts for nearly 25% of all California pedestrian deaths, with risks concentrated on urban arterials in South LA and unincorporated communities like East Los Angeles.
