Sacramento County, CA. – 42-year-old Robert Alan Shires of Sacramento died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Tuesday evening in Florin.
Authorities said Shires was attempting to cross Stockton Boulevard from east to west when he was hit by a northbound vehicle just north of Florin Road.
The pedestrian was reportedly walking outside a crosswalk when the collision occurred.
The driver, who allegedly had a green light, fled the scene and did not stop after the crash.
California Highway Patrol officers have identified a possible suspect, though no arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
The incident remains under investigation.
