A silver BMW was traveling westbound on Elkhorn Boulevard when the driver lost control and drifted into the eastbound lanes. The BMW collided with an oncoming Toyota in the eastbound side.

Rio Linda, CA – Authorities are investigating a major collision that claimed the life of one person and left another hospitalized on Friday afternoon in the Rio Linda area of Sacramento County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened in the area of Elkhorn Boulevard and 20th Street at around 2 p.m. on August 21.
A silver BMW was traveling westbound on Elkhorn Boulevard when the driver lost control and drifted into the eastbound lanes. The BMW collided with an oncoming Toyota in the eastbound side.
The driver of the Toyota was killed in the accident.
A second party was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The patient was reportedly hospitalized with serious injuries.
A third vehicle was also involved in the accident but had minor damage.
The CHP and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the scene.
At this time, it’s still unclear why the BMW driver swerved from the westnound lanes.
The exact circumstances of the crash are still being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
