3 Injured after DUI Driver Crashed into Costa Mesa Restaurant on Bristol Street

Costa Mesa, California (October 11, 2022) – Three people including a pregnant woman were injured after a suspected DUI driver crashed into two restaurants in Costa Mesa on Saturday evening.
The incident happened along the 2900 block of Bristol Street at about 5:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A truck reportedly ran a red light before it sideswiped a vehicle on the street in unclear circumstances. The impact of the collision caused the truck to jump a curb before crashing through the front of Bred’s Nashville Hot Chicken.
The truck continued through the restaurant and into the prep area of Seabirds Kitchen.
A pregnant store manager who was working in Seabirds Kitchen suffered a broken leg and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The truck driver, Juan Bustamante, 53, of Santa Ana, and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Officers who responded to the scene noticed the smell of alcohol on Juan and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
