The accident occurred around 5 p.m. at Holloway Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard.
Authorities said an adult pedestrian was struck by a car under unclear circumstances.
The victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
