Long Beach, California (August 5, 2021) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle in Long Beach on Thursday evening, according to the authorities.

The accident happened on Pacific Coast Highway near Technology Place at around 5:59 p.m.

Police said a pedestrian walked from behind a parked truck onto the roadway and was struck by a westbound semi-truck.

Medics responded to the accident and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately released.

The crash caused a closure of the Pacific Coast Highway for hours as authorities investigated the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
