Lucerne Valley, CA. — A fiery head-on crash on Highway 18 in Lucerne Valley left at least one person injured Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported around 5:24 p.m. on Hwy 18 at Camp Rock Road, where a white Ford F-150 pulling a trailer and a black SUV collided head-on.
Authorities said both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames following the impact.
CHP and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded and confirmed that one person suffered injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital.
Additional details about other possible patients or the severity of injuries were not immediately available.
A portion of Highway 18 was temporarily closed as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and clear the wreckage.
No estimate was given for when the roadway would fully reopen.
