Oakland, CA — Nine people were hospitalized Thursday evening following an AC Transit bus crash near International Boulevard and 80th Avenue, authorities reported.
The collision occurred just before 6:30 p.m. January 15 as the AC Transit bus was traveling northbound in the center bus-only lane.
A preliminary investigation determined that a Honda sedan traveling in the adjacent lane attempted an abrupt U-turn directly into the path of the bus, resulting in the crash.
Eight passengers aboard the bus and the driver of the Honda were transported from the scene by ambulance. Authorities said none of their injuries were considered severe or life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation.
