A black motorcycle collided with a gray Nissan sedan under unclear circumstances.
The force of the impact threw the rider off the bike into the car.
Firefighters responded to the scene and blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes.
The rider was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Investigators are working to determine the factors that contributed to the accident.
