Santa Maria, CA. – A motorcyclist died in a collision with a car Friday afternoon in Santa Maria, the Santa Maria Police Department reported.
The collision occurred around 5 p.m. in the 1900 block of South College Drive near Southside Parkway.
According to police, a male motorcyclist was traveling northbound when a car exited a parking lot into the roadway directly into the path of the rider.
The vehicles collided, causing the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the roadway.
The rider suffered serious injuries in the accident. AMR responded and transported the patient to Marian Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The female driver of the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are investigating the crash to determine the factors that led to the accident.
