Motorcyclist Dies After Colliding with Big Rig on the Benicia Bridge

The crash was reported around 7:58 a.m. near the mid-span of the Benicia Bridge along the southbound Interstate 680.

Benicia, CA. – A motorcyclist died after losing control and colliding with a semi-truck Tuesday morning in Benicia, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported around 7:58 a.m. near the mid-span of the Benicia Bridge along the southbound Interstate 680.

According to CHP, a man was riding a motorcycle at slow speeds in the No. 1 lane when he lost control of the bike and went down.

The rider landed partially in the No. 2 lane, where he was struck by the left rear wheels of a passing semi-truck.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators closed the three lanes of southbound I-680 as they worked the scene. The lanes were reopened at 10:33 a.m.
