, California (September 1, 2021) – A CHP officer and a motorcyclist were injured in a traffic collision that occurred near Del Mar on Tuesday afternoon, according to the authorities.

The collision occurred on near Via De La Valle at around 4:20 p.m. August 31.

Authorities said the CHP officer had stopped to remove a ladder from the southbound side of Interstate 5 and was hit by the motorcyclist while returning to his patrol vehicle.

Rider Seriously Hurt in Del Mar Crash on Interstate 5 

The 2000 Harley-Davidson rider lost control and drifted to the left, colliding with the center divider and the CHP officer.

The rider, a 61-year-old man, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries. The CHP officer had minor injuries and both parties were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The wreck is under investigation.
