Santa Maria, CA. – A mother and her 6-year-old daughter were injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Santa Maria Friday morning, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.

The crash happened around 7:00 a.m. near North Miller Street and Dena Way.

The two pedestrians were crossing the roadway in an unmarked crosswalk when they were hit.

Both victims sustained major injuries. The child was reported in stable condition, while the mother’s condition was not mentioned.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

SMPD’s Traffic Bureau is investigating the incident.
