, CA. – 68-year-old Melissa Lai Chow died in a accident last week in San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The incident happened around 5:43 a.m. on December 27 on the Upper Great Highway and Ulloa Street.

San Francisco police responded to the scene after they were notified about the pedestrian accident.

The officers found Chow with life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to a local hospital by paramedics, where she later died from her injuries.

Chow's family said she suffered from dementia, which contributed to her wandering from home on that tragic day.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
