According to the BPD, the man was walking east across Union Avenue outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle

Bakersfield, CA.- A man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday night in Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The incident was reported at around 10:20 p.m. September 15, in the 3300 block of Union Avenue.
According to the BPD, the man was walking east across Union Avenue outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle.
The victim was then struck by a second vehicle that fled the area after the accident.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver who first hit the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The Bakersfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
