Lower Lake, CA – At least one person died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday afternoon on State Route 29 in Lower Lake, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to CHP logs, a caller reported that there was a large black garbage bag in the traffic lanes and that a blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck behind them was swerving into the oncoming lane. The reporting party pulled over to let the Dodge pass.
The pickup truck then collided with a Ford Explorer. The occupants of one of the vehicles got trapped inside.
Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene to help the motorists.
At least one person died in the collision.
It was unclear if anyone else was injured.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
The highway lanes were closed to allow investigators to work the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
