Livermore, CA – A motorcycle rider died after being involved in a collision with a vehicle on Tuesday afternoon in Livermore, according to the Livermore Police Department.
The wreck took place at about 1 p.m. April 28, on Isabel Avenue and Stanley Boulevard.
Preliminary reports indicate that a woman was riding a motorcycle northbound on Isabel Avenue when she failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Stanley Boulevard. The motorcycle collided with a gray sedan that was making left turn at the intersection.
Livermore police found the motorcyclist with major injuries at the scene and initiated life-saving measures on the victim before medics arrived.
The rider was then transported to a hospital, where she was declared deceased. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified the motorcyclist as Janelle Benson Weispfenning, 50, of Livermore.
The sedan driver, an 87-year-old Pleasanton woman, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver was reportedly cooperative with the authorities.
More details on the collision were not immediately released. The Livermore Police Department is still working to establish the cause of the accident.
