Kern County Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Oildale Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash

Bakersfield, CA. – The Kern County Coroner's Office identified the who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver near an intersection in Oildale as 36-year-old Joshua Scott Pierson.

The Bakersfield resident died at the scene of the collision that happened around 1:05 a.m., October 8, on Roberts Lane near Plymouth Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Roberts Lane when Pierson attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of Roberts outside of a marked crosswalk.

Pierson entered the street directly into the path of the vehicle and got hit.

The driver of the car fled the scene.

Investigators gathered information about the suspect's vehicle and relied on witnesses' statements to locate the car.

The suspect driver, however, remained at large.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Oildale, CA.- A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Oildale on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened on Roberts Lane and Plymouth Avenue shortly after 1 a.m.

A Honda traveling eastbound on Roberts Lane struck a man walking in the traffic lanes outside of the crosswalk.

The victim died in the accident.

The involved driver fled the scene after the crash.

Authorities later located and seized the Honda but its driver was not found.

The hit-and-run accident remains under investigation.
