Jaime Sanchez Killed in Merced Pedestrian Accident near Childs Avenue and Watertown Drive, Driver Arrested
Merced, California (August 21, 2021) – 43-year-old Jaime Sanchez, of Merced, has been identified as the male victim who died after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver near an intersection in Merced Monday morning, according to a report by the Merced County Sheriff Coroner's Office.
The fatal pedestrian accident happened near the intersection of Childs Avenue and Watertown Drive shortly before 1:00 a.m. on August 16.
Sanchez was reportedly struck by a 2004 Mercedes whose driver fled the scene after the collision.
The initial report showed that Jaime was walking East on Childs Avenue while the 22-year-old male motorist was going east on Childs Avenue at the report time.

Sadly, Jaime Sanchez was declared dead at the crash site.
Later, the involved driver returned to the scene and cooperated with the law enforcers.
According to authorities, the driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injury or death and released owing to jail booking regulations.
