Fernanda Martinez ID'd as Calexico Woman Killed in Calexico Crash at Willoughby Road and Dogwood Road
Calexico, California (August 5, 2021) – The 25-year-old Calexico woman who was killed in a car accident on Tuesday afternoon in Calexico has been identified as Fernanda Miramontes Martinez, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 3:36 p.m. August 3, at Willoughby and Dogwood roads.
CHP said a Jeep Compass traveling eastbound on Willoughby Road drifted into the northbound side and collided with a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The impact sent both vehicles off the side of the road and into the Central Main Canal.
Martinez, who was the driver of the Jeep, died in the accident.
The second driver sustained a cut on his hand and was able to swim to safety.
The crash remains under investigation.
