The DPS reported that a 44-year-old man was driving a Subaru SUV eastbound on westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway when he sideswiped an oncoming Hyundai passenger car

Tempe, AZ.- The woman who was killed in a crash involving a wrong-way driver near Tempe early Monday morning has been identified by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Emma Huckleberry, 21, of Waddell, died in the incident that took place at about 12:05 a.m. August 11, on Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway near Priest Drive.
The DPS reported that a 44-year-old man was driving a Subaru SUV eastbound on westbound Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway when he sideswiped an oncoming Hyundai passenger car.
The Subaru then crashed head-on with a westbound Kia passenger car.
The impact caused the Subaru to roll and it came to a rest on its roof.
Huckleberry, who was the driver of the Kia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The operator of the Hyundai fled the scene after the crash and abandoned the vehicle a short distance from the scene.
The DPS reported that impairment is suspected to have played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
