Barbara Lee Jury, 78, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, was killed in the incident that took place on Elk Grove Boulevard near Waterfowl Drive at about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.

Elk Grove, CA – The woman who was killed in a crash involving two vehicles on Thursday evening in Elk Grove has been identified by the authorities.
Barbara Lee Jury, 78, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, was killed in the incident that took place on Elk Grove Boulevard near Waterfowl Drive at about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.
The Elk Grove Police Department reported that a 51-year-old Sacramento woman was driving a silver sedan westbound on Elk Grove Boulevard when she swerved and crashed into the center median. The car went airbone after the crash and collided head-on with an eastbound white sedan.
Jury was identified as the driver of the white sedan. She was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the white sedan was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Elk Grove police report, the Sacramento driver is believed to have been fleeing from an earlier hit-and-run crash reported on Elk Grove Boulevard near Franklin Boulevard. The hit-and-run occurred approximately half a mile from the scene of the second accident.
Police said driving under the influence of alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the collision and charges are expected.
The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating the accident.
