Concord, CA. – Authorities identified the two drivers who died in a head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver early Sunday morning in Concord as 34-year-old Edgar Blas-Avalos of Concord and 40-year-old Eva Rodas of Oakley.
The wreck occurred around 3 a.m. on southbound Kirker Pass Road just north of Hess Road.
According to investigators, one of the drivers was traveling in a Honda Civic northbound toward Pittsburg in the southbound lanes of Kirker Pass Road.
The wrong-way driver ran into a Toyota 4Runner heading in the correct direction.
The Honda's driver was ejected from the car.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not mention who was driving the wrong way.
Intoxication is suspected to be a factor contributing to the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating to determine what transpired leading to the crash.

Hess, CA.- Two people were killed in a car accident that took place near Hess in Contra Costa County early Saturday morning, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The wreck happened just before 3 a.m. on Kirker Pass Road.
Two vehicles reportedly collided at the intersection when one of the drivers was heading the wrong way.
One person was ejected from one of the vehicles.
The ejected victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
One person was trapped in one of the vehicles, which reportedly caught fire following the crash.
The trapped victim also died in the accident.
The roadway was shut down in the area as authorities worked to clear the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
