Stevens County, WA.- A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle near Ford in Stevens County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident took place on Highway 231 near milepost 50 on Tuesday, May 13.

According to the report, David James, 53, of Ford, was riding a bike on the southbound side of the highway when he failed to yield while acrossing the roadway and was hit by a northbound vehicle.

James was airlifted to Sacred Heart, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver was unhurt and stayed at the scene.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
