Cowlitz County, WA.- Three people were hurt when a driver trying to overtake collided with a second vehicle on State Highway 504 in Cowlitz County on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened near the intersection of Finkas Road at around 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
The WSP reported that Conner Kruse, 30, of Toutle, was driving a Toyota 4Runner eastbound on SR 504 when a Volvo S60 traveling in front of him stopped to make a left turn into a private driveway. Kruse tried to pass the Volvo on the left but the two vehicles ended up colliding.
Kruse and his passenger, an 18-year-old from Silverlake, were both injured in the crash. The driver of the Volvo, a 60-year-old man from Marysville, was not hurt but his passenger, a 61-year-old Marysville resident, reported injuries. The three patients were transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
The WSP said Kruse was cited for improper passing. An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
