Coroner Identifies Elanie Barraba as Salinas Child Killed in Hesperia Accident on 15 Freeway Near Oak Hill Road

, California (August 2, 2021) – A four-month-old Elanie Barraba has been identified as the girl who died following a two-vehicle collision in Hesperia Sunday afternoon, according to a report by the Sheriff-Coroner.

The deadly crash occurred on15 Freeway, just south of Oak Hill Road, at approximately 12:59 p.m. on August 1.

As per the California Highway Patrol dispatch, a semi-tractor trailer truck and a Honda Accord crashed on the interstate for reasons still under investigation.

Due to the impact, the car rolled over several times.

Barraba, a young boy and an adult woman, sustained major injuries and were rushed to trauma centers via two helicopters for medication.

Elanie Barraba was pronounced dead at the Desert Valley Hospital, just around 1:35 p.m., while undergoing treatment.

There were no other victims injured, including the father and the mother of the child.

The semi-truck operator stopped after the collision and cooperated with law enforcers.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
