Chula Vista, CA – The San Diego County Office of Medical Examiner has identified the driver who died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Friday morning near Otay Lake in Chula Vista.
Ray Fredeluces, 49, of Chula Vista, died in the crash that occurred around 11:30 a.m., March 13, on Otay Lakes Road near Wueste Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Fredeluces was driving an Acura sedan westbound on Otay Lakes Road when a Honda sedan traveling eastbound on the same road crossed over the solid yellow lines and hit his car head-on.
Both vehicles stopped on the right shoulder embankment of the westbound lane.
Responding emergency personnel transported Fredeluces to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating to determine the factors that contributed to the collision. Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be contributing factors.
