Kingsburg, CA. – One person died, and another was hospitalized after a traffic collision that happened Thursday evening in Kingsburg, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident was reported around 6:18 p.m. on Highway 99, near Avenue 384.

A blue Honda Civic and a semi-truck were involved in the collision.

The Kingsburg Fire Department responded to the scene and found the driver of the semi-truck unconscious.

The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries.

The freeway lanes were shut down to allow a helicopter to land and airlift one person to the hospital.

The report said one person died in the crash.

Details about the deceased and those hospitalized, as well as the cause of the accident, were not available.

All lanes were reopened at about 8:28 p.m.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
