Chilcoot, CA – Nevada Woman Dies in Boating Accident on Frenchman Lake

According to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported at about 11:21 a.m. on July 11, 2026, near the Frenchman Lake Boat Launch.

Chilcoot, CA –  47-year-old Sandra Skender of Reno, Nevada, died Saturday morning in a boat accident that happened on Frenchman Lake in Chilcoot.

According to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported at about 11:21 a.m. on July 11, 2026, near the Frenchman Lake Boat Launch.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene and found a personal watercraft and a recreational boat involved in a crash.

Authorities said Skender was operating the personal watercraft when she collided with the recreational boat under unclear circumstances.

Emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures on Skender, but she died at the scene.

Alcohol is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
