Banning, California (August 18, 2021) – The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau has identified two people who were killed in a plane crash last month in Banning.

The crash happened near Banning Municipal Airport at about 9:30 a.m. on July 30.

The 1966 fixed-wing single-engine Cessna 150 is reported to have crashed into a vacant lot on the northwest side of the airport at 200 S. Hathaway Street.

The plane reportedly burst into flames after the crash.

22-year-old Granite Shelton and 22-year-old Cameron LeClaire, both of Big Bear City, were killed in the crash.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
