Cajon Pass, CA – Three people were hurt in a crash involving a single vehicle on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass on Saturday afternoon, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol
At around 3:37 p.m. January 3, the CHP responded to an accident on southbound I-15 at the Kenwood Avenue exit.
Through investigation, CHP learned that a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling southbound on the interstate when it hydroplaned due the rainy conditions.
The truck left the roadway and crashed into an embankment in the center median before flipping multiple times.
Three people riding in the Dodge were being treated for minor injuries.
Authorities believe the heavy rain that led to slick roadways played a role in the incident. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
The Cajon Pass is widely recognized as one of California’s most dangerous and deadliest stretches of road, with a high rate of fatal and total collisions driven by its challenging terrain, variable weather, and high traffic volume.
