Byron, CA – A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car Friday morning at an intersection in Byron, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to CHP logs, the incident took place around 7:15 a.m. on July 24, 2026, at Byron Highway and North Bruns Road.
A motorcycle and a Chevrolet Camry collided in the area for an unknown reason.
The rider was thrown from the bike into the air and landed on the side of the road. The victim died from injuries sustained in the crash. A Contra Costa County coroner representative was dispatched to the scene following the fatality.
Authorities closed southbound Byron Highway at North Bruns Road for about 45 minutes. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
