Auburn, CA – A head-on collision involving two vehicles claimed the lives of two people on Thursday afternoon near Auburn in Placer County.
The crash, according to the California Highway Patrol, was reported at around 3:55 p.m. April 16, on Foresthill Road near Lake Clementine Road.
Investigators reported that a male driver in a black SUV was traveling on Foresthill Road when he was involved in a head-on collision with a white sedan operated by a female driver. Authorities were still working to find out how the vehicles collided.
According to CHP, the drivers of the two vehicles were declared deceased at the scene. A female passenger in the SUV was flown to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Authorities reported that impairment was not suspected to have played a role in the incident. The identities of the involved parties were not released.
The accident led to the closure of both sides of Foresthill Road for over two hours as authorities examined and cleared the scene.
At this time, no additional information on the incident have been released. The California Highway Patrol officers are still working to establish the cause of the deadly accident.
