
Arcata, CA.- At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred near Arcata on Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at around 5:16 p.m. November 30, 2025, on State Route 299 near the Glendale Drive off-ramp.
According to a preliminary investigation, a small four-door sedan, a black Toyota pickup truck, a fire truck, and a fourth vehicle reportedly collided in the westbound lanes of SR 299. At least two of the vehicles crashed head-on and one vehicle burst into flames.
The sedan fled westbound on SR 299 after colliding with the fire truck, which was responding to the initial crash. Authorities reported that the sedan had significant damage to its passenger-side.
At least one person was declared dead at the scene. The condition of other parties involved in the incident was not specified.
The crash caused the closure of the No.2 westbound lane as authorities worked to clear the scene. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
