The Apple Valley Fire Protection District responded and found a lime green Honda Civic and a gray Chevrolet pickup truck involved in the collision. Both cars were stopped on the north side of Waalew Road.
An occupant of the Honda was trapped inside in critical condition. The occupant was extricated by the firefighters. Two other people sustained delayed injuries.
The firefighters said one person died from their injuries.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.
Waalew Road was closed in both directions during the investigation.
