Shasta County, CA – Three people were hospitalized after a boating accident that happened Saturday afternoon on Lake Shasta, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., December 27, in the area of Packers Bay Inlet on Lake Shasta.
According to investigators, two vessels were involved in the collision. Details about the manner of the crash were not available.
Ten adults were aboard the two vessels at the time of the accident. Authorities said none of the passengers were wearing Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), despite all the necessary equipment being present on the boats.
Deputies from the SCSO Boating Safety Unit were assisted by patrol deputies from the City of Shasta Lake and South County stations to rescue the victims.
Firefighters and paramedics transported three passengers to a local hospital with moderate to major injuries. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
