Avenal, CA. – Two truck drivers suffered minor injuries after a head-on collision between two semi-trucks Thursday morning in Avenal, authorities reported.

The crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. on Highway 33 north of South 7th Avenue.

Two big rigs collided head-on, spilling about 3,000 gallons of crude oil onto the roadway.

One driver was extricated from their vehicle by Kings County Fire Department personnel.

Both drivers declined hospitalization after receiving treatment for minor injuries at the scene.

Cleanup efforts lasted several hours as hazmat personnel worked alongside multiple law enforcement agencies to contain the spill.

The Kings County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol are jointly investigating the crash.
