A woman in her 40s was driving westbound on the highway at a high rate of speed when she went off the roadway and crashed into the guardrail, authorities reported

Fresno County, CA.- One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Fresno County on Friday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The wreck happened on Highway 168 near Auberry Road shortly before 12:22 p.m.
A woman in her 40s was driving westbound on the highway at a high rate of speed when she went off the roadway and crashed into the guardrail, authorities reported.
The vehicle became airborne following the crash and plummeted nearly 150 feet down a ravine.
The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the site of the accident.
Her name was not immediately released.
The circumstances under which the accident happened are still being investigated.
